Status

Ready for implementation. The canonical public-era heritage home is .github/STORY.md.

2026-05-31 V-B-A resolved the previous needs-re-triage state:

.github/STORY.md already exists, is titled "The neo.mjs story", and carries the origin / architecture narrative.
.github/NEOMJS_HISTORY.md is a pre-public contributor-credits and acknowledgements document. Keep it as that document kind; do not extend it with public-era milestone prose.
ADR 0018 §2.7 OD-2 and the neo-identity-update facts / affected-areas references still point at the wrong home and must be corrected in this PR.

Scope

Author the public-era heritage slice in .github/STORY.md and reference that home from README + the portal About Us surface without duplicating the fact list.

The pass must also update the identity-maintenance substrate that encoded the stale recommendation:
